“Outsourcing” isn’t always a dirty word for local workers. Business owners are finding many benefits to outsourcing locally, instead of sending jobs overseas.
Mention the word “outsourcing” in public and most listeners immediately think of U.S. manufacturing or customer service jobs being transferred overseas at the expense of the U.S. workforce. But the concept has a local variation that is beginning to take hold in the small to medium-sized business market.
Local outsourcing of employment services creates business benefits across the board, without any associated social issues and impacts. This local service allows small and medium businesses to outsource their day-to-day employment responsibilities to local human resource professionals right in their own backyards.
Note Local Employment/HR Agencies are sometimes hard to find. They are usually listed in the yellow pages under the following headings:
- Employment Agencies
- Employment Contractors
- Employment Service
- Human Resources
- Temporary Help

If your company is like most, your payroll system is less than perfect. The average employer with hourly workers spends more time on payroll issues than any other single element of administration!
- Inaccurate time cards must be corrected
- Supervisors spend hours on schedule and attendance verification
- Data must be transferred to the payroll system
- Inaccurate paychecks generate unhappy employees
- Resolving employee disputes costs time, money and morale
Outsourcing to an HR or payroll professional eliminates the errors, paperwork, and employee issues related to payroll.

Columnist Steven D. Strauss, a lawyer specializing in small business and entrepreneurship, advises business owners to understand the downsides to litigation:
It’s expensive. Even hiring an attorney on contingency will eventually cost you about 40 percent of your settlement, if, of course, you ever get one. And those $300 an hour cases are killers.
There are no guarantees of success. Your odds of winning are 50-50, even with the facts and law on your side. You never know what a judge will do.
Worst of all, lawsuits are a pretty poor way to settle disputes. Endless discovery, motions and countermotions, bored jurors — it’s a wonder anything ever gets resolved.
Even if you think you’ve done everything right as an employer you can still be taken to court by the federal goverment, state goverment, local goverment or more likely by your own employees for perceived failures to comply with employment law. Then even those who “win” their cases have lost valuable time and resources in the process.

Protect yourself at all times! Outsource your employment needs to a professional local Human Resource Organization.
